Router Milling Machine

This versatile Router/Mill rotates the work piece while moving the router along a certain distance per revolution of the work piece.

This allows you to create spirals, flutes and tapered pieces.

The tail stock can be raised for cutting tapers.

The head stock is fixed.

I used a one inch diameter 8 threads per inch threaded rod for the lead screw.

The complete Router/Mill.

The distance the router transverses the work piece per work piece revolution is set by interchangeable gears between the lead screw and work piece rotation shaft.

The ratio charts  show what gears to use and where to place them to achieve the required results.

Here are various gears stored on the back of the machine.

The depth of the router cut is adjusted by a vertical lead screw that is manually turned to move the router up or down. I also added a electronic height gauge.

Although the original design used a manual crank to rotate the lead screw, I added a variable speed motor to drive the machine.

The 50v motor has a gearbox and the revs are further reduced via a sprocket and chain link.

The guard on the chain has been removed for clarity.

The toggle switch is to change direction of the lead screw.

The blue knob is the speed control.

Since the machine was being electrically driven, I also added adjustable micro switches to limit the travel at both ends.

The micro switches can be moved either way along the back rail to adjust the stopping positions for different lengths of material.

    Its electric power 50W ?
    Which its native RPerMinute ?

      Hi Viktor
      If you are referring to the drive motor.
      I don’t have access to the rating of the motor, but at a guess about 200W.
      The physical size of the motor is 90 x 90 x 180 mm. It has worm drive gearbox with an output of about 240 RPM.
      The final chain drive reduction is about 2:1 giving maximum lead shaft speed of 120 RPM. This give a maximum transverse speed of 5 mm per second.
      The router is 2200 W.
